Claude Dashboards and Claude Motion: What Anthropic's Update Means for Business Teams
On 8 October 2026, Anthropic launched Claude Dashboards and Claude Motion in beta. Dashboards turns questions about your company data into a live dashboard. Motion turns ideas into short animated explainers you can download as MP4 files. In the same update, Claude Docs, Slides and Design came out of beta and are now on every Claude plan, including Free. The details are in Anthropic's announcement, and The Verge covered the launch the same day.
The quick answer for business teams: Docs, Slides and Design are ready for everyday use today on any plan. Dashboards is a beta on paid plans, and Motion is a beta on Team and Enterprise only. So what you can try depends on which plan you are on.
What is Claude Dashboards?
A dashboard is a page of charts and numbers that shows how your business is doing at a glance. Building one usually means writing SQL (the language used to query databases) or waiting for an analyst. Claude Dashboards lets you ask in plain language instead.
According to Anthropic, you connect a data platform such as Amazon Redshift, BigQuery, ClickHouse, Databricks or Snowflake, ask a question, and Claude builds the dashboard and keeps it current as the data changes. It also works with other connectors, so you could ask for a dashboard of your Salesforce opportunities.
Two details make it more trustworthy than a black box:
You can click any number to see the query behind it, or ask Claude to explain it.
Each chart shows when its data was last refreshed.
Anthropic positions Dashboards for quick, exploratory questions, like comparing this week's signups with last month. For deeper analysis, you can send the dashboard to tools such as Amplitude, Grafana, Hex, Mixpanel, Omni, Perplexity, PostHog or Sigma, with Databricks Genie, Looker, monday.com and Tableau listed as coming soon.
What is Claude Motion?
Claude Motion builds an animation from your prompt that plays like a short video. You can adjust it in an editor or ask Claude to change it, then download it as an MP4 file.
The important part for designers and marketers: Motion does not use a video generation model. Claude writes code that animates your text, charts, shapes and images. Anthropic says this means there is no generated footage and no AI-generated people, and you can change any word, number or timing.
Anthropic's own examples include turning a quarterly report into a 30-second explainer for an all-hands meeting, adding motion to a chart in a board deck, or making a product walkthrough for customer onboarding. If you want to take a clip further, Anthropic says you can open it in Adobe, Descript, HeyGen, Higgsfield, invideo, Luma AI or Runway, with Canva and Captions coming soon.
Docs, Slides and Design are now on every plan
Anthropic says people have made more than 45 million docs, decks and designs in Claude since these tools arrived, and it has now removed the beta label. The update adds:
Team editing: your team and Claude can work on the same doc, deck, design or dashboard.
Sharing: share slides, designs, dashboards and animations outside your organisation, if your admin allows it.
Better exports: PowerPoint and PDF downloads keep the formatting from the editor, and decks can go straight to Google Slides as editable files.
Mobile editing: change a doc, deck or design in the Claude mobile app.
Enterprise controls: artifacts now support CMEK (customer-managed encryption keys), and admins can choose which templates the organisation uses.
Claude Design is moving into the main app
Claude Design began at its own address, claude.ai/design. Since 16 September it has also worked inside every Claude conversation, and Anthropic is now folding the standalone site into Claude. The standalone version stays open until 14 December 2026. Chats and comments on standalone projects won't be available after it closes, and public links to those projects will stop working, so migrate design systems and save anything you need before then.
Plans, pricing and access
The table below combines Anthropic's announcement with its pricing page as we checked it on 13 October 2026. Prices are in US dollars, exclude tax and can change.
Plan | Price shown | Docs, Slides, Design | Dashboards | Motion |
Free | $0 | Yes | No | No |
Pro | $17/month billed annually, or $20 monthly | Yes | Yes (beta) | No |
Team (standard seat) | $20/seat/month billed annually, or $25 monthly | Yes | Yes (beta) | Yes (beta) |
Enterprise | Seat price plus usage at API rates | Yes | Yes (beta), admin must enable | Yes (beta), admin must enable |
For Enterprise admins, Anthropic says Dashboards and Motion are off by default and can be turned on in Organization settings under Artifacts. Docs, Slides and Design turn on by default on 15 October, or admins can switch them on earlier.
Practical ways business teams could use this
These are our examples of where the tools could fit. They are ideas, not results Anthropic has reported:
Agencies: a live dashboard of leads by source from a connected CRM, ready before the weekly client call.
Sales teams: a short Motion explainer comparing your pricing plans for a sales kickoff, which is close to an example Anthropic gives.
Product and support: an animated onboarding walkthrough that you can update when a screen or price changes, because it is built as code.
Small businesses: quick first drafts of a proposal deck in Slides, exported to PowerPoint or Google Slides for final polish.
Limitations and what to watch
Beta means change. Dashboards and Motion are betas, so features and limits may shift.
You need connected data. Dashboards only works as well as the data platform or connector behind it. Many small businesses keep data in spreadsheets, not a warehouse.
Check the numbers. Being able to see the query is helpful, but someone should still check that the logic and filters are right before sharing.
Motion is not a video studio. It animates text, charts, shapes and images. It does not generate footage, so it is not a replacement for filmed content.
Brand consistency still needs people. Fast designs are useful for drafts, but a brand system, clear typography and good images still decide quality.
Our take for marketing and design teams
This is Websidezone's view, separate from Anthropic's claims. The most useful change for most businesses is not the beta features. It is that Docs, Slides and Design are now stable and on every plan, including Free. That lowers the cost of trying AI for everyday drafts.
Motion is interesting for one reason: it is editable. Because clips are built as code from your own content, you can fix a typo or update a number without starting again. For explainers and reports, that matters more than flashy footage.
Our advice: use these tools for first drafts and internal reporting, and keep human review for anything customer-facing. If you need a polished brand look for decks, social creatives or your website, our graphic design services and website development team can take a draft to a finished, on-brand result.
