Meta AI Ads Update: What Marketers Can Use Now and What Is Still in Testing

6 min read

On 6 October 2026, at Advertising Week New York, Meta announced a new batch of Meta AI ads tools for advertisers and agencies. The list includes a smarter business assistant inside Ads Manager, wider access to Ads Creative Studio, more AI video tools and checkout inside chats. You can read the full list in Meta's official announcement.

Here is the short answer most marketers need: only two of these features are open to everyone right now. Customer Lifecycle Strategy is available to all advertisers, and generating video from your existing static images in Advantage+ creative is generally available. Most of the rest is rolling out slowly, limited to beta advertisers, or still in testing.

That difference matters. If you plan next month's campaigns around a feature that has not reached your account, you lose time. So in this post we sort the announcement into what is live, what is coming and what it means for a normal business running ads on Facebook and Instagram.

What Meta announced at Advertising Week 2026

Meta's post covers five areas. Each one is aimed at a different part of the ad process:

  • Creative: Ads Creative Studio, a workspace that shows which ads are performing and why, and now helps generate and edit video.

  • The business assistant: the Meta AI assistant inside Ads Manager gets creative insights, a longer memory of your business and, later, the ability to make changes for you.

  • Audiences: Customer Lifecycle Strategy for all advertisers, and plain-language audience discovery coming to Detailed Targeting.

  • Video: more generative AI video tools, including video made from static images and product videos from catalogues.

  • Shopping in chats: checkout tests inside Messenger, Meta AI and Muse.

Meta also said its ads MCP server now supports more campaign workflows. MCP stands for Model Context Protocol, an open standard that lets AI tools connect to other software. In simple terms, large advertisers and agencies can manage parts of their Meta campaigns from the AI tools they already use.

Meta AI ads features: live, rolling out or in testing

The status column below uses Meta's own wording from the 6 October post. Meta did not publish a country list, so "available" describes the announcement, not a promise about your specific ad account.

The two features you can use today

Customer Lifecycle Strategy

When you run a campaign to find new customers, you do not want to pay to reach people who already buy from you. With Customer Lifecycle Strategy, you tell Meta the campaign is for acquisition, and Meta recommends which existing customers to exclude. Before this, you had to build those exclusions yourself.

There is one catch. Meta can only exclude customers it can recognise. If your customer list is old or incomplete, the recommendations will be weaker. So the real first step is boring but useful: clean and update your customer data.

Video from static images in Advantage+ creative

Meta says more than 60% of the time people spend on Facebook and Instagram is with video. Now advertisers can turn existing static images into video ads inside Advantage+ creative, and Meta calls this feature generally available.

For example, a small skincare brand with strong product photos but no video budget could create a short video version of its best image ad. A local bakery could do the same with its festive menu creative. It is a quick way to get a video variant without a shoot.

Treat that video as a new ad to test, not an automatic upgrade. Meta's post does not claim the generated video will perform better than the original image. Watch it fully before it goes live and check that the product, text and offer look right.

The business assistant is getting memory, and later, actions

The Meta AI business assistant already gives tailored help inside Ads Manager. The new update brings creative insights from Ads Creative Studio into the assistant and gives it a deeper memory. According to Meta, it can keep context such as what you tried last quarter, your seasonality and the goals you described earlier.

The bigger change is still in testing. Meta says that "soon" you will be able to plan and create a campaign, generate creative imagery and text, update targeting or change a budget just by asking. Previews, approvals and controls sit between your request and the change. Scheduled tasks, such as weekly summaries and budget reminders, and importing brand guidelines are also in testing.

How to read the 5% claim

Meta says advertisers who adopt the assistant's recommendations typically see 5% more conversions at the same cost per conversion than advertisers who don't. That is Meta's own figure. The post does not share the method, sample size or time period, and it describes today's recommendations, not the new agentic features. Use it as a reason to try the recommendations, not as a forecast for your account.

What this means for small businesses and agencies

For a small business, the useful part of this update is practical: video from images and better audience exclusions. Both help you spend less time on setup and more on testing offers. If you run ads with a small team, these are the two places to start.

For agencies and in-house teams, the assistant's memory and the ads MCP server point to a future where routine changes happen through conversation. That can save hours. It also makes it easier to change something by mistake. Meta says agent-staged work arrives as a draft in Ads Manager and that every action needs advertiser-set permissions and explicit approval before anything goes live.

Creative still decides results. AI can make variations faster, but it starts from what you give it. A clear offer, sharp product images and consistent branding still matter. If your ad designs need work, our graphic design team can help you build a strong base for testing.

Costs, access and limitations

  • Cost: Meta's announcement does not mention a separate charge for these tools. Your main cost is still your normal ad spend, so budget for testing new variations.

  • Access: rollouts reach accounts at different times. Meta's post does not list countries or languages, so check what your own Ads Manager shows.

  • Testing status: conversational campaign building, scheduled alerts, brand-guideline import, audience discovery and in-chat checkout are not general releases yet.

  • Quality control: generated video can still contain mistakes. Review every asset before publishing, especially prices, product details and claims.

  • Data: Customer Lifecycle Strategy works best with an up-to-date customer list.

Our take: how to plan around Meta AI ads this quarter

This section is our opinion as a digital marketing agency, not Meta's claim. We think the smart move is to use what is live now and keep a simple process for everything else:

  1. Open Ads Manager and note which of these features your account actually shows.

  2. Update your customer list, then try Customer Lifecycle Strategy on your next acquisition campaign.

  3. Pick one image ad that already performs and test a generated video version beside it.

  4. Do not rebuild your workflow around features in testing. Dates for tests are not dates for your account.

  5. When the assistant's agentic features arrive, keep approvals on and start with low-risk tasks like summaries and reports.
